Have you ever taken the time to think about what eternity means to you? That is one of the questions of life that really consumes my thoughts. I have spent the past few years telling others about Jesus Christ and the love that He has for them and my thoughts can’t help but wonder what is happening in their lives. For some, they have made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, but for others they either sit on the fence not sure which way they want to go or they just flat out reject what God has for them. It is those latter souls who are the ones I am consumed with.
I realize that God has given each of us a free will to choose for ourselves. One of those free will decisions is whether or not to accept Jesus. Of course for me I would prefer for them to accept Him and have eternal life with Him, but like I said they have the free will to choose for themselves. As I write these things I can’t help but wonder why. Why can’t they see what God has done in others’ lives and want that for their own life. But then of course there are those who at one time knew Him and chose to walk away for whatever reason. The thing that I want everyone to know is that it is not too late to change your mind and that Jesus is right there waiting to forgive you. Now with that said, what about the eternity question. I wonder if there are those who never realize the ties between Jesus and eternity or maybe they don’t think that there will be an eternity. For those of us who know what the bible has to say, it is our responsibility to continue to minister to those who are lost, sitting on the fence, or have changed their minds. God told us to go and share the gospel and that means to everyone regardless of whether or not you have done it before. We need to continue to minster the gospel until Jesus comes back, because it is those soles are needed in the kingdom and throughout eternity. Take a quick look at this line, __________________._____________________, notice the little dot in the center of that line? That little dot is actually what our life looks like in the plan of God. That dot could represent 20 years or 90 years but in eternity, it is just a little dot. In the overall scheme of things our life is very short when you compare it with eternity. Notice also, that after the dot the line is just a continuous line that never ends and keeps going and going and going like for an eternity. That is the part we need to concern ourselves with. Will we spend it in Heaven or in Hell that is the question? The bible is clear and concise about what each is like and for my money I choose Heaven. How about you what direction do you choose? What do you choose? Do you prefer to accept Jesus or do you prefer what the world has to offer. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me” and if you don’t understand what that means, it means that unless you have a one on one relationship with Him, you will never spend eternity with Him and His Father in Heaven for eternity. Eternity is huge and you definitely do not want to miss out on the right way to go. But, the choice is yours and it will be the biggest decision you will ever have to make. Listen to your heart and allow God to speak to you. The decision you make will be the difference between life and death. Choose wisely and then watch how your life changes. There are those who never in their wildest dreams could have ever guessed that one day I would be saved and preaching the gospel, but there was that day when there was nowhere else to go and someone spoke to me the way that I am speaking to you today and I listened and then I chose God. I have had a lot of ups and downs but there is one thing that I know and that keeps me going and that is that one day I am going to get to spend eternity with Jesus and praise Him for what He did in my life. God didn’t promise me that everything in my life would become perfect, but He did promise me that I would have life eternal and that my name would be written down in the Lambs Book of Life and that is more than enough for me. Why don’t you make the same decision and you will find like I did just how much Jesus loves you and how much He cares for you. My life will never be the same again and for that I am thankful. God bless all of you and may you hear God speaking to you and then respond to His voice and not miss out on the rest of your life.
