Tomas Oppus Leyte 2008
In July of 2008 we traveled to the island of Leyte to minister. We took a Super Cat Boat from Cebu to Oromoc Leyte. We spent the night in Oromoc then rented a van to take us to the other side of the island to Tomas Oppus which was about a three hour drive.
Arriving in Tomas Oppus we got settled in to our room and then headed for the church for our first of three meetings. That first night was very eventful. As we went to ministry time and praying for people I noticed this young woman literally dragging her friend to the front of the church. It was obvious to us that she did not want to be there and yet her friend was making her go.
I approached the woman and asked her what she wanted God to do for her. She responded by telling me nothing and there was nothing God could do for her. I asked why she said that and her friend told me that she had been diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer and that there was nothing they could do for her. Her friend told us that she had been given less than a month to live and she had given up. I turned to the woman and through an interpreter told her that God wanted to heal her body. She got irate with me and told me that God could do nothing for her and that she was going to die. Again, I spoke to her and asked her to just humor me and allow me to pray for her. It seemed against what she wanted but she allowed us to pray for her.
My wife placed her hand on the woman's stomach and I lay my hand on top of hers. We began to pray for the woman and when we had finished, she rushed away back to her seat at the back of the church. We continued to lay hands on people and pray for them when the pastor of the church came to me and asked me to come with him. I left the front and went to where the woman was and as I got close to her; it was like there was a glow about her. I asked her what was going on and she told me through the interpreter that she felt light. I told her I don't understand light and she responded saying that when she returned to her seat and sat down it was like a fire entered into her from the top of her head and then moved down her entire body and that she felt light. I told her that the fire she felt was God and that she was healed. I told her that she needed to go back to her doctor and get a confirmation but that I knew she had been completely healed.
After having our meetings in Tomas Oppus, we continued on to the remainder of our trip and then returned home. It was a few months later that as I was going into a staff meeting at the church I was working at, I received a call from Pastor Ken Tagud of Faith Tabernacle Church in Cebu. He began by saying Praise God it is a miracle. I told him, "that is great, but what is the miracle." Ken told me that the woman we had prayed for in Tomas Oppus had indeed gone to the doctor not once, but three times, and she was indeed healed and that there was absolutely no cancer anywhere in her body. The doctor told her that there was no explanation for what had happened to her but that all of the cancer was completely gone. Praise God He heard our prayers and reached down and healed that young woman that day.
Pastor Ken began to tell me that it seemed where ever we were there seemed to be miracles happening. I just laughed and told him that it was not us, and it was God working in us. Pastor Ken said that he knows God works and touches those He loves and that he knew there was a young woman who will never forget what God had done for her.
I am so very thankful that God chose to use us and my prayer is that He will continue to do so. We have seen great miracles and we hope to see many more. We will always allow God to use us and work through us and we will never forget what He has shown us so far.
