That Small Voice

Can you hear it? Are you listening really close? There it is again! I know that voice, I have heard it before and it has guided me when things were not going so well. Amazing, there it is again. Now that I have matured in the Lord that still small voice is speaking and it is coming more often. Can you hear that voice?

God is speaking to us actually twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. He never stops speaking to us and if we would really open our ears we would hear Him. If we could only put aside listening to the world we would hear His voice and then we would be truly blessed. We spend more time telling God that we can’t, and never once consider the fact that if we answered we not only would find that we can but we would find out there is so much more we could do.

God is speaking to us every time we pick up our bible, every time we say a prayer, every time we hear a message from church. God is speaking to us and like the example of Peter getting out of the boat and walking on water, if we keep our eyes on Jesus we can walk on water, and if we keep our ears listening for that voice of God there is nothing we can’t do. When God speaks, we become pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets and so on and so on, we become.

You hear pastors and the like saying on a regular basis that they heard God speak to them, or I heard God say to me, or God said. Whatever the instance God is speaking, and it may not be in an audible voice but He is speaking. You may get this thought and you have no idea where it came from but somehow you know that it is right and then you realize it is God. It was God that put that thought in your head and He did it so that we might obey and follow His instructions. Sometimes God will use others to speak to us because we have a tendency to listen to people we respect i.e. a pastor or best friend, or some other person we respect.

However God uses to speak into our lives the fact remains He speaks to us. The scripture says, today, if you will hear His voice, harden not your heart. (Psalms 95) In other words, if you listen to what He has to say and not turn away you will be blessed beyond anything you could imagine.

There that voice is again. It says that He loves you and cares for you and will take you far beyond this world and into eternity. Open your ears and hear and then your life will truly begin. Everything will not be perfect and without problems, but God will show you things that will help you through whatever the problem is. It will perfect your faith and make you stronger. The voice of God will speak to your life and the comfort you gain will have you saying, without God I would never have made it.
