I have spent the past few months reaching out to friends and family looking for contributions to help me go to the Philippines with very little response. Maybe they don’t understand the scope of what it is I do when there? Maybe they do not understand that this is not a vacation and a mission trip? Whatever it is I know they have their own thoughts on the matter and I am OK with that. We all have to do what we feel in our heart to do, but we do need to consider what it would mean to others who are hurting.
I watch the commercials on television and it seems that people these days are more compassionate toward animals, trees and fish than they are toward people. There is nothing wrong with those types of campaigns, but there is definitely something wrong when they come before people. Maybe most people don’t understand that somewhere else in the world there are people starving or going around with very little to wear or the most important going around not knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. When God called me to the ministry I was totally reluctant and had no desire to be in ministry. After some time of me resisting and God pushing I finally caved and for the past twenty years I have been doing what God tells me to do without reservation and when He tells me to do it. The first thing He called me to do was to go to the Philippines. At the time I had no idea why He would send me and wondered what I would be able to do when there. It did not take longer than the plane touching down on the runway for me to realize that I was in the right place and it felt like I was home. Over the past twenty years, my wife and I have seen the mighty hand of God move on the people of the Philippines as well as upon us. We have witnessed great miracles and have watched as God provided more than what we had to help these people. We have gone on islands with just enough to feed the people a small amount only to watch God multiply it to more than enough. We have ministered and watched literally hundreds of people surrender their lives to Jesus Christ by the prompting of the Holy Spirit. These trips are not a waste of time and we know that we know we are called to do it. My prayer would be that those I reach out to for help would be open to the prompting of the Spirit and at the very least pray about what they can do. God does not need their help to provide what we need, but He does test us to see if we will do what He is asking us to do. Think about a time that maybe you had this prompting inside you to give or do something and you didn’t and then later think that maybe you should have done it but now it is too late. That is the prompting of the Spirit and though He doesn’t need your help, He wants you to help and to be a part. When we put aside what we think is the right thing to do and do what God knows is right then we will be blessed and usually with more than enough. God is in control and our sacrifices speak volumes about our lives and our willingness to reach out to help others. If there is anything I would ask of each of you it would be pray. Pray that God will use you. Pray that you can be a blessing to others. Pray that the Holy Spirit will purge through your entire life and bless you far beyond anything you could ever understand or expect. My prayers are with you and for you that God will pour more blessings into your life. God bless you as you consider what you need to do for Him, and maybe should you consider helping us make this upcoming trip in November to feed and speak into people’s lives then please contact us. You can go to our web page at www.reamministries.com and give online or get our mailing address. Whatever you do God will bless you and if you give your contribution is tax deductible. You all are awesome and I am very happy to call you friends and family far beyond whether you give to help us or not. God is in control and He is never late and is always on time. If you don’t mind, would you please write to me and let me know what you think about what we do and what I write about? I don’t want to bore anyone I am just doing what I know to do. God bless.
