Is God Calling You?

Let me start with a very important question, what is God calling you to do? For the most part we sense that something is different about us but we just can’t put our fingers on it. We think we hear something and it is something out of our comfort zone so we never act on it. Does this sound familiar? All too often it is dead on and absolutely the case.

How about this, we feel that God is calling us to go into the mission field and that is so far outside our comfort zone we disregard it and try to get away from that thought. Just to let you know, you cannot escape when God calls because when He calls He will be relentless until you surrender. I know what I am talking about because it happened just that way for me.

Back in 1997, I heard God speaking to me telling me that He wanted me to go to the Philippines. My first initial thought was this is crazy, what in the world would I want to go outside this country to do something I had no idea of. This was so unbelievably out of my comfort zone I said to God there is no way I am going to leave the country and go somewhere I don’t feel comfortable. But, again He said to me I want you to go to the Philippines and speak what I will put on your heart and on your lips. Once again I discounted what He was saying and in fact I told Him there is no way He could get me to the Philippines.

To make a long story short, I finally said to God there is a trip there but I only have three weeks to raise $3,000 and if you really want me to go then you will have to provide the funds we need to go. On December 10th of that year, my wife and I boarded an airplane bound for the Philippines. The awesome thing about the whole ordeal was that though I tried to reject what God was telling me to do, He had indeed called me to go and He made the way and to top everything else off, when our plane touched down on the runway at Mactan Airport Cebu, Philippines both my wife and I knew that we knew that this indeed was where God had called us and we have been going there ever since.

What is God calling you to do? Is He calling you to the mission field? Is He calling you to help others go into the mission field? Regardless of the answer, God is calling you and like I have already said, God is relentless when He has called you to do something. Though you will reject, discount or just outright refuse, He will prevail and when you do surrender you will find a feeling that you did not even know existed. You will like my wife and I when we landed in the Philippines, begin to thank God as the tears flow down your cheek.

Rather than resist God surrender and you will never be the same. Surrender and God will provide everything you will need and He will place fulfillment in your heart. If you are called to the mission field, He will provide everything you will need to complete what He called you to do. If you have been called to help financially others who have been called, He will provide not only the finances for you to do that but He will increase the finances to go far above anything you could have ever expected or dreamed of. There is no need to put it off any longer, God has called you and it just as well be now instead of later. Remember God will make a way where there seems to be no way. He will keep His hand upon you and He will anoint you to do what He has called you to do. Surrender and it will be the best decision you have ever made.
