In Matthew 4:19, Jesus said, "Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men."
I would like to focus on three words from this scripture. Those words are "Come Follow Me". Can you imagine the magnitude of Jesus when he spoke and said come follow me? The disciples dropped whatever they were doing and followed Him. Do you realize that there is nothing different today as from two thousand years ago? Jesus is still speaking and He is saying "Come Follow Me" You must understand that there is a cost involved in following Jesus but that cost far outweighs the price for not following Him. In the word Jesus gives us a look at that cost so we would know. In Luke 9:57-62, this is what was written, As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” He said to another man, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Jesus has a plan and that plan is to increase the Kingdom and He is calling to each one of us to "Come Follow Him". There has never been a change in the statement come follow me that Jesus had made and if the truth were known it would apply more today. The world is on a road to destruction and if we don't answer the call to follow Jesus and reach out to the world with the gospel then we could stand in judgment as to why. Why did you not hear my call? Why did you think it better to ignore what was going on in the lives of the lost? Why did you not minister the gospel as I gave it to you? There are a lot of whys in life and I for one do not want to hear God asking me Why. If you will answer the call of Jesus today the same way the disciples answered the call over two thousand years ago, we will see and experience a move of God in our lives and the lives of those put before us in ways we can't even dream of. God calls us to follow Him and with that call comes all of the necessary things we will need to accomplish what He called us to do and that is to reach the world of the lost. You can do it. How do I know, if God didn't think you could not do it He would not have called you. The awesome part is we all can do it if we just answer the call, "Come Follow Me" and I will make you fishers of men. God bless you and may you be blessed far beyond what you know or see.
