As I was sitting here this morning watching television all of a sudden it was brought to my mind of how much God loves us and how much He really wants for us. God begins to change us at that very instant we ask Jesus into our lives.
I saw a video of the late Robin Williams in one of his standup acts. I only watched a few seconds of it because of the language he used and then it came to me that I was once that way, but God. It is always but God. I don’t speak like that anymore because God changed me from the inside out. It had never really dawned on me because the change came over a period of time and I did not even realize that it was happening. Of course as a Christian, our vocabulary should not include gross or vulgar language. When I prayed I began to ask God to touch those Christians who find no problem with their language because everyone does it. That makes no difference that everyone else does it because number one you are not everyone else, you are a child of God. Second, if everyone else was jumping off a cliff would you do it also? God has called us to be separate from the world. He has called us to not do what the world does and learn to do what Jesus did. That is how I realized how subtle change comes into your life. One minute you are doing this and then a few days later you are doing that instead and you never realized it. Change begins to come when we make the decision to do what Christ is doing. In 1 John 4:17, the bible says that as He is in Heaven so are we on this earth. Change comes if we set our eyes upon what Jesus is doing in heaven and now on what is going on in this earth. Our goal in life is not to spend eternity here and doing what we do now, it is to obtain heaven in our lives and be with God the Father for eternity in Heaven. We need to change, we have to change because that is the only way we are ever going to have peace in our lives. If we have spent most of our lives chasing after dreams or focused on the wrong that has been done to us then we have spent it foolishly. I have been there and I have done that. It was only when I began to seek what God had for my life that things began to change and my thoughts also began to change. It was no longer important for me dream about things that were probably unattainable for me and it was definitely not important to waste my life holding a grudge against others. The only thing that seemed to matter was I need Jesus. I want to do what Jesus does; I want to do what He did when He walked this earth. I want to reach out in the Name of Jesus to those who have no idea who God is or what He can do and ask God to change their lives. God changes our lives every minute of every day whether we realize it or not. Suddenly, you find that you are not doing things you use to do or you are not acting the way you use to act and you begin to give the glory to Jesus who changed you. God changes you to make you a better person, to make you an obedient person, to make you a righteous person. He changes you to witness to others with all of the boldness and the confidence that you may have never known. God changes you and he does it in His way and in His time. Our response should only be Change me, Father! Make me the person you want me to be and set my feet upon the only path that leads to you. God changes you and He does it for His glory.
